The
18th
Hole
|
Men:
351m par 4, rated 5
Ladies: 330m par 4, rated 1 |
|
The eighth and last left dogleg on the course, the 18th
penalises anything to the left with a heavily treed
corner, a drainage ditch, and out of bounds on the driving
range.
Trees and
sandy lies to the right can also cause problems, but those
who err to the right may still have a direct, if long,
shot at the green.
|
|
From
the middle of the fairway past the dogleg, the approach
shot is uphill to a raised green bunkered left and right,
and players are advised to take one extra club to
make the distance.
The sight of the clubhouse at the top
of the hill is always a welcome and welcoming sight -
particularly during bar opening hours.
|

|
|

|
The
green itself slopes down from back to front, and any difficulty
generally comes from underclubbing and not making the green, rather than not
holding it and running off.
If
the approach shot does miss, there's plenty of grass
around the green to make the chip on a little easier. |
|
Although
undulating, the 18th is not a difficult green to putt, and
regularly yields birdies to players on in regulation.
Unless the four trees behind the green get in the way the
Collie Golf Club experience should end with smiles all
round after 18 holes of first class golf on one of Western
Australia's best and most challenging country golf
courses. |
