The
15th
Hole
|
Men:
336m par 4, rated 15
Ladies: 325m par 4, rated 7 |
|
A straightforward par 4, the 15th should pose few problems
for those who can keep their tee shot on the relatively
wide fairway.
But as is generally the case at the Collie
Golf Club, anything off the fairway is penalised by trees
and sandy lies, and anything well off the fairway is lost.
|
|
There
are no hidden dangers in the approach shot, perhaps in
deference to the three difficult closing holes ahead.
The
15th green is not bunkered, and the areas to the back and both
sides are well grassed.

The
approach is not all plain sailing, however, with a ditch
behind the green ready to trap an overclubbed ball.
The
green is typical Collie, sloping back to front and off to
both sides, undulating, and a challenge to even the best
putter. |
|
Was
it Sam Snead who said you have to take time to stop and
smell the roses?
Well, the roses are at the back
of the
8th green - but these wildflowers, behind the 15th, are
typical of the beautiful display put on by Collie in late
winter. |
