The
12th
Hole
|
Men:
345m par 4, rated 11
Ladies: 132m par 3, rated 15 |
|
The 12th is Collie's most antisocial hole in mixed
competitions. Men turn left behind the 11th green
to walk 70m to the tee of the 345m par 4, while ladies
turn right and walk 140m to the tee of their 132m par 3!
|
|
From
the mens' tee the 12th is a gentle right dogleg, with the
tee shot played out of a chute to a wide fairway.
Push the
ball to the right and overhanging trees and sandy, bushy
lies penalise the shot.
Pull it left, and you may have no
shot at all from the thick rough.

|
The
ladies' tee, above, is a different proposition, a
relatively easy 132m tee shot to a big, undulating green
which slopes upwards from front to back.
However, a tee
shot to the left, or a poor approach from the men, may be
caught by a big tree on the left of the green, and dropped
into a hard, grassless, twiggy, leafy mess below. |
|
The
green is also protected by a fairly flat bunker to the
right front, perhaps an easier option than overshooting
into bushes and, in wildflower season, a very pretty but
very thick bed of yellow daisies.
Use
a yellow ball and you may never see it again. |
