The
6th Hole
|
Men:
318m par 4, rated 16
Ladies: 302m par 4, rated 8 |
|
One
of the easier holes on the course for men, the 6th is an
arrow straight uphill par four of 318m.
The
ladies get little advantage here, teeing off only 16m
ahead of the men, making this the 8th hardest hole off the
ladies' tee. |
|
The
major danger on the 6th is to the right, with poor sandy
lies off the fairway, and thick bush and trees beyond it.
The
ideal drive is to the left of the fairway, but not too far
left, as trees can encroach on the approach shot if the
tee shot comes to rest on the left edge of the short
grass. |

|
Approaching
the green, with the clubhouse in the background, the main
hazard to avoid is a bunker to the right front.
As
the hole is uphill, it is important to ensure enough club
is taken to reach the putting surface.
But
not too much club. |
|
Too
much club on the approach, and the ball will end up among
trees and palms behind the 6th green - or even in the
bunker to the right front of the 9th green.
From
behind the green the return chip (or a cut lob if you know
what you are doing) must be delicately
executed to avoid running too far past the hole on a green
which slopes fairly strongly from back to front. |
