The first duck family of the season crosses the 17th fairway in July 2003, and again two months later - with one fewer duckling, caught by a predator between the 16th green and 17th tee; kangaroos abound, with mobs of up to 30 seen on their favourite 10th fairway - towards the end of the year seems to be the best time to spot joeys; two '28' parrots take a bath between the 5th green and 6th tee; a tiny scarlet breasted winter robin, the size of a thumb, refuses to come close to the camera; and marsh hens are one of a number of water birds, including many types of geese and ducks, which wander on to the fairways from the Collie River.
